When is "EMDR Certified" actually EMDRIA Certified?
All EMDR Certification means the same thing

The requirements to be an EMDRIA Certified TherapistTM are strictly defined by EMDRIA—whose stated purpose is "to promote, foster, and preserve the highest standard of excellence and integrity in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) practice."*
Are all EMDR Trainings equal?
All EMDR Basic Trainings are equivalent and interchangeable toward the goal of pursuing EMDRIA Certification and Advanced EMDR Trainings.
Only EMDRIA‑Approved Basic Trainings fulfill the Basic Training requirement for EMDRIA Certification. Many EMDRIA‑Approved Advanced Trainings also require an EMDRIA‑Approved Basic Training as a prerequisite.

What does it take to become EMDRIA Certified?
Completing an EMDRIA-Approved Basic Training makes you an EMDRIA Certified Therapist.
EMDRIA Certification requires: EMDRIA-Approved Basic Training + 12 hours of Advanced EMDR Training + 20 hours of EMDRIA-Approved Consultation.
Do the 10 EMDR Basic Training Consultation hours count?
The 10 hours of Consultation during EMDR Basic Training count toward the 20 hours required for Certification.
EMDRIA Certification requires an additional 20 hours of Consultation—10 of which may be completed in Group format.
Isn't EMDR Basic Training enough?
Certification isn’t really necessary because Basic EMDR Training is sufficient.
Basic Training allows you to provide EMDR as an EMDR Trained Clinician—but deeper proficiency in EMDR skills and growing confidence in applying them to real-life complexity is developed through ongoing training and consultation.
Does it matter who provides your Consultation?
Any EMDRIA-Approved Consultant will do.
